prelude.

We all woke up in a town called Riesa or near that. That's why we happened to meet. Each of us played in one or more local bands before. Yeah, we happened to meet.

One of the early 90s punk bands was called Kirchendiebe and Denis was hiding there behind the mic and guitar. Some years and quite some member-changes later, a friend asked him to found the Mampf fanzine. Kirchendiebe had finally passed away, sporadic attempts to form a new band came to nothing and he was doomed to drudge solely the fanzine for four years.

Mid 90s were the times of crossover, grunge, techno. Dorit and Martin were forming members of a band called Out which was kind of contributing to the crossover section. Matthias joined later.

Meanwhile René performed live electronics in Shock Hazard.

In the late 90s, the Out-section contributed to the Mampf fanzine in various ways. Out and Shock Hazard were dead. And also the fanzine was fated to peg out soon. Something new had to come. One miraculous day in the Mampf office, Denis and Martin talked about forming a band together. Afterwards both decided independently to ask some friends to join. Big surprise when we met in the practice room and there were suddenly five people around.

the beginning.

We wanted to know if it's worth the business and asked an expect musician to judge the two songs we made during our first meeting. A kick-off okay finally.

A first tape appeared end of 1999. Never sold. Just selected 3 songs to be usable for promotion. We gigged mainly local clubs and actually didn't spend much (if any) activity in promoting ourselves.

Time passed by. René surprised us by suddenly not only bringing but also playing guitar. Dorit found out she could sing. Thus, songs appeared and disappeared again. Melodies were born and passed away just like that. Still, our ideas began to develop shapes we started to like and finally decided it would be the right time to do some recording and really, officially release a full length album. That was in 2001. Work in the Eastcore Studios in Nünchritz was an exciting experience. The buzzing in our heads seemed not to end, especially for Denis who started to nearly work himself to death while being responsible for mixing, mastering and layouting the record. Parts was not born but pressed out slowly, like under a high fever of excitement. Later, some hundred copies were drowned during the Elbe-flood in 2002.

main course.

From 2000 onwards, Martin and Dorit packed their bags for India and stayed away at months' lengths for several times. No-one knows what they were looking for nor whether they found it there and the only witnessing sign can be found in one title of the parts record: "banaras as a part of a journey." There was a rumour, someone had lost his heart... but found something else...

The continuing interruptions of our work didn~t make things easier and everyone probably prayed for better times. The songs we made during this time tell their own stories, they seem to get lost in themselves for their vague intentions. And they made us follow their traces for an indescribable feeling we developed along with them. The songs obviously found us by losing themselves. What's the difference... where's the contradiction? Since we had started walking down our own traces, regardless of fog or wet shoes, we just turned up the volume so that everyone could hear. Many gigs throughout Saxony and eastern Germany. And people started to return.

We stayed parts, somehow. After a long time we finally managed to decide for the recording of a new full length album. Our split experiences made it a long-lasting procedure, even though the recording itself was done quickly. It was difficult to get along between one's own expectations, talents and abilities. Not easy to balance over the gaps between rapture and exhaustion. But when it was there, bearing the telling title nowhere is now here we were proud like hell. We turned up the volume even a little bit more, played more gigs and joined the Karlsruhe band Ether and Sharks on their tour. People liked us and started calling us shoe-gazers while we spend our time on stage with our eyes closed and our hearts and hands at work. It was a good time. Even some fanzines recognized that.

Our rehearsals between gigs and between Dresden and Leipzig became far more intense than we have ever expected but somehow shorter with the time. Martin suddenly became a papa, Dorit changed for Potsdam and everybody developed a tendency of extreme lack of time. But we needed the rehearsals, we needed the intensity. We made Dresden our place to work, two days rolled into one larger unit of time, a night in between to make our ears and whatsoever digest the pieces – the parts we called into being during the day. Melodies seemed to roll us over. The new room, cold like a fucking fridge between October and April, made us play like hell in order to get warm, in order to get high. In between one more tour through Germany and the Netherlands. An accident newsletter. A promise. A new album in high speed. One more summer gone. You are a weather against my window.
